History: The youngest of two children born to Mary and Franklin Storm, Johnny, named Johnathan Lowell Spencer Storm, was born in Glenville New York on a particularly lovely April morning. He was welcomed into the world by his parents, his aunt Marygay, and his older sister Susan. For the most part life was normal. Johnny grew up and developed an interest in cars and mechanics at a young age but it was nothing out of the ordinary. Occasionally he'd be found in the garage "helping" his father work on the car. While the young boy was out with him Franklin would often teach him bits and pieces about what he was doing. Since Johnny was so young none of it really stuck but he was able to hand his father tools... even if he often got them mixed up with his playskool ones.

At the age of 6 disaster struck the family when Mary's car was hit by a drunk driver on her way home from work. The young mother was killed instantly and with her death the family was thrown into turmoil. Franklin started drinking and gambling often neglecting his children and leaving the young Johnny in Susan's care despite the fact that she was only five years older than him and needed supervision herself. The young girl, however, seemed to blossom into her new role and managed to take care of the family pretty well. She fell into a routine of sorts where she'd wake up and take care of breakfast and her brother before they both left for school and, in the evening between studying, she'd prepare dinner. She'd leave dinner for their father to eat whenever he arrived home. Though they'd hardly ever see him the Storm siblings would wake up to an empty plate and signs that their father had, indeed, returned home. One night, however, Franklin Storm didn't return home. Susan had left food out for him but when the children awoke it was still sitting upon the table untouched. They checked his room and found nothing. Their father had disappeared and the Storm siblings wouldn't see him again until much later in their lives.

With their father gone Susan took on all the responsibilities of a parent in caring for her younger brother. She did what she could and kept their situation a secret out of fear. While Johnny wasn't making it easy for her neither of them wanted to be split up and sent to foster homes. Still... life has a way of sending you for a loop and just when the Storm siblings didn't think life could get any worst it did. An injury at school and a call to the various numbers the school had for Franklin outed their secret. Johnny still doesn't know what really happened and Sue has been less than helpful when it comes to retelling this event but, as far as he knows, the siblings had been at home when state social workers came for them. The combination of high stress and changing hormones, coupled with the fact that some police officer had thought it would a good idea to knock down their front door after Susan had decided not to let them in triggered something in the young girl. Johnny doesn't really remember it. There was a forcefield of some kind which he couldn't see blocking him and Sue from the men and women who wanted to help them but only ended up scaring them. He'll tell you that, despite the fact that he was only 8, he wasn't scared and he didn't cry. If you ask Sue, she'll wait until he's out of earshot before smiling and telling you about how her baby brother clung to her side and wept his little eyes out into her shirt.
